Friend has a Fujitsu A6020 (vista home premium 4GB, fully updated)that was having random lockup issues, no BSOD, the screen would just lock, hard reboot generally would free it up though sometimes it would restart( fujitsu splashscreen, mouse would be locked).

I checked it for malware, noting, cleaned up what was staring at boot, still locking. though it does boot and run faster when it doesnt lock.

I opened it up and blew out the dust( not much) fan is functioning.
Ran memtest, 8 passes no errors.
Belarc reports hard drive( Smart) is healthy.

Im wondering what else could be causing the lock up?
Are there any window error files that might help?
I don't know if it is a hardware issue or a software problem.

Yesterday it ran for 10 hours, though i had it fixed, then it lock when i ran defraggler, rebooted and it was locked again, rebooted again and it ran for a few minutes then locked.

The machine was off all night, this a.m. it powered up but didnt boot, fan was spinning, no HDD activity, no video. Hard powered down and tried again, starte din safemode with networking and it booted , i tried defraggler again, and its at 34% right now..

Any thoughts on what to check next?

Are you doing anything in particular, when the lockup happens?

not necessarily, sometimes i just leave it at the desktop and when i come back its locked up.
Occasionally it locked up while surfing internet, couple times when starting a program like degfraggler.

The last time it locked up and wouldn't reboot, i took the HDD out and was able to back-up anything that was critical to them.
I just dont know if its software or hardware related.
Like i said memtest , 8 passes error free and hdd reported as healthy by Belarc

sometimes i just leave it at the desktop and when i come back its locked up.

Probably caused by:
The last sleep transition was unsuccessful. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, failed, or lost power during the sleep transition.
(number of errors like that)
I suggest disabling all power saving features for now.

Occasionally it locked up while surfing internet

I can see several errors pointing to some networking issues:
DCOM got error [...] attempting to start the service [...]
Service 'WMPNetworkSvc' did not start correctly [...]

Possibly, also connected, errors mentioning Bonjour service.

I'd like to see what's starting and running on your computer.

Download Autoruns for Windows: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx
No installation required.
Simply unzip Autoruns.zip file, and double click on autoruns.exe file to run the program.
Go File>Save, and save it as AutoRuns.txt file to know location.
You must select Text from drop-down menu as a file type:

Sure....

Re-run Autoruns.

In "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" section, un-check:
+ "WMPNSCFG"

In "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services" section, un-check:
+ "Bonjour Service"

Restart computer and see how it goes.

There are two new errors, both the same:
Event: 14329 Source: Microsoft-Windows-WMPNSS-Service
Service 'WMPNetworkSvc' did not start correctly because the registry could not be updated due to error '0x80070006'. If possible, reinstall Windows Media Player.

Let's do some test.

Go Start and in "Start search" type in:
services.msc
Press Enter.

Services window will open.
Scroll down to:
Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service
Right click on it, click "Properties".
Under "Startup type", select "Disable" from drop-down menu.

Restart computer and see how it goes.
