Hello there,

I am currently looking at rebuilding a previously custom built computer that my father built around 6-7 years ago, as you can imagine most of the hardware inside is no longer supported and I am looking for a new gaming computer.

Firstly, I would like to note the system has no operating system, or at least it did but it decided to stop working, it used to run Windows XP however the installtion seems to be corrupt and we haven't any discs. This rules out the possiblility of me logging in to get furthur specs.

I would like to also stress that this is my first build. I know just about all there is to know about sofware and viruses, but haven't a clue on external hardware etc.

My build will mainly be used for gaming(heavy at times) with games on it such as Cities XL.

The specs I want as minimum are as follows;
1TB Harddrive
512MB Graphics card MINIMUM but cheap?

First and foremost, the motherboard this computer has is a ASRock K7VT4A Pro. I see from the product page that it doesn't(or hasn't been updated to) support windows 7. I will not be going back to the xp days, as I have my netbook for xp

Secondly, it has http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131255 as its Grapics Card.

I don't know where to find the processor..

RAM Stick(s) - http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3274835/Kingston-KVR333X64C25-512-Valueram-Computer-Memory-512MB-PC2700-DDR-333MHz-184-Pin/Product.html
http://www.directron.com/512333.html

Also has a DVD RW - http://www.cdrinfo.com/sections/reviews/specific.aspx?articleid=12429

So, I am currently looking for ideas, suggestions and whether or not I should upgrade this or just start from scratch.

Thanks,

Jake

This isn't my cup of tea, but...

For all intents and purposes, I would forget about that entire system. A more recent motherboard is in order, which will use entirely different RAM and accommodate much more powerful CPUs with different sockets than Socket A.

You also will need a new PSU...and video card...and an O/S.

I'd advise determining what money you are willing to part with...and working backwards from there. Once you define a max ballpark figure and tell folks what games you intend to play...you should get some suggestions.

I am considering the purchase of a custom built pc from the net. Budget would be top of 500 and games I am looking at playing vary, games such as rollercoaster tycoon 3, then others such as hotel giant and again others such as gta iv and cities xl.

If you have any computer suggestions then do feel free to post a link, thanks!

NewEgg ships to the U.S, China and Canada. But you use Price USA to buy it but they cost extra for the service.
