OK, last night I got hit all at once by who knows what. Spysheriff was there and by following the links here I seem to be rid of it, at least I think so. Now I have multiple issues, I'll run through some of the reoccuring warnings that ewido gives me.
Browsela.dll
Alt.exe
ADSLDPBF.dll
Downloader.DELF
Hijacker.DELF
Also it trys to send out tons of mail, I see it as Norton begins to "scan" them, yeah right!!!! When I see this, I shut down the card. It now has begun to reboot on it's own.
Things I've done include. Clean up, Ewido scan, Norton scan, but I got some new definitions this afternoon from Norton, but now it won't run long enough to finish the scan. AD-Aware and S&D, all of this was updated today.

OK a couple things, I went throug the site and found a fix for two of the probs, the browsela and the Kernel64, which I didn't mention. Now I don't get warned about those, but the spontaneous e-mails are all over. I'll look around for a fix for that.
Thanks

Here's a HJT log now

OK, so here's the latest info. After running every fix I could find, even though I couldn't find much direct info on the mailer problem, I think by removing the msctl32.dll I stopped it.
I've stopped getting all the virus warnings and no more mailing today.
I'll be looking to replace the Norton product as they eat up a ton of my little laptop's resources and replacing it with something simpler since Norton was NO help at all during this attack. Any suggestions on an effective AV?
Also, today I recieved 17 updates from Microsoft, one of which was the malicious software removal tool, I have auto update and manually checked last week for updates, this seemed sorta strange to get this volume of updates at once. Anyone else get this?
I'll include a HJT log and a WPFind log. Anyone see anything else that needs attention? Thanks

OK, here's the latest HJT log, I've done LOTS of stuff and the computer seems to be working pretty well
I did another Ewido scan this morning and It turned up
downloader.delf
Not-A-Virus
Trojan.agent
trojan.zapchast
logger.small.dg
Any ideas what I should be looking for?
I did a cleanup after the Ewido, all in safe mode and here is the HJT after.
Thanks

Download this program:

submit files packer

Highlight the files listed below in bold and right-click and selecting copy.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wltray.exe

Then start the file packer program and right click in the white box and select paste to paste the copied file names in the field.

Then press the Continue button.

I will create an archive with these files and a small log on your Desktop that starts with a name like requested-file[date].cab.

Rename this file to yourmembername.cab (for example grinler.cab).

Then go to:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit-malware.php
and fill in the required fields and browse to this file on your desktop. Finally click on the Send File button.

Download http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/winpfind.php

Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe. When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to scart scanning your computer. Be patient as this scan may take a while. When it is done, it will show a log and tell you the scan is completed. Reboot your computer back to normal mode and and post the contents of c:\WinPFind\WinPFind.txt as a reply to this topic.

Download this program:

submit files packer

Highlight the files listed below in bold and right-click and selecting copy.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ogg.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\swreg.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ThriXXX010104Z.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ThriXXX010205PNG.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ThriXXX015003JP2.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vorbis.dll

Then start the file packer program and right click in the white box and select paste to paste the copied file names in the field.

Then press the Continue button.

I will create an archive with these files and a small log on your Desktop that starts with a name like requested-file[date].cab.

Rename this file to yourmembername.cab (for example grinler.cab).

Then go to:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit-malware.php
and fill in the required fields and browse to this file on your desktop. Finally click on the Send File button.

Then,

To use RootKit Revealer please make sure you are logged in as an Administrator to the computer.
  • Please download and unzip Rootkit Revealer to your desktop.
  • Please leave the defaults set as they are to:
    • Hide NTFS Metadata Files: this option is on by default
    • Scan Registry: this option is on by default.
  • Launch rootkit revealer on the system and press the Scan button.
RootkitRevealer scans the system reporting its actions in a status area at the bottom of its window and noting discrepancies in the output list. It may take a long time please disconnect from the internet and leave the PC to be scanned until it is finished.
  • The log can be very large please edit out the items in the following folders in the log : C:\RECYCLER\NPROTECT and C:\System Volume Information, if in the log, before posting it.
  • Please post the balance of the log here in this thread using Add Reply (please double check that it has all been posted as it may be too long for one post)]
Then Download and Save blacklite to your desktop.
F-Secure Blacklight: http://www.f-secure.com/blacklight/try.shtml
Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement.
leave [X]scan through windows explorer checked,
click > scan then > next,
You'll see a list of all items found.
Don't choose for rename yet! I want to see the log first, because legit items can also be present there... like "wbemtest.exe"
There must be also a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers).
Copy and paste this log along with the rootkit revealer log.

I sent the file to you. Rootkit ran twice and found one thing the first, I saved it, but can't find it, the second tme it ran it found nothing. I will look around for the saved file. I put it in my documents, but I see no sign of it. I will run blacklight next.
Thanks

Know ya didn't ask for this, but here's a current HiJack. This AM, after an Ewido scan last night, I had the not-a-virus and downloader.delf show up again. They were in my restore folder so I deleted my restore files and re-enabled restore.
Thanks

You can fix these:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4B5F2E08-6F39-479a-B547-B2026E4C7EDF} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

I still do not see anything wrong with this log. Lets try something else:

Download Silentrunners.zip from:

http://www.silentrunners.org/

Run the SilentRunners.vbs file. If your antivirus has a script blocker, you will get a warning asking if you want to allow SilentRunners.vbs to run. It might say something like "Malicious Script Warning". This script is not malicious so you are safe in allowing it to run. When it asks if you want to skip the supplemental search tests, press the No button.

When it has finished it will produce a Startup Programs text file. Copy and paste that text file here in your next reply.

I still cant see anything here. Next time you reboot and get the ewido warnings, write down the file name and their locations. Also see if you can submit them to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit-malware.php

Looks good for now. Do the following to be safer and if the problems pops up let me know.

Now that your clean:

Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable and reenable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

You can find instructions on how to enable and reenable system restore here:

Managing Windows Millenium System Restore

or

Windows XP System Restore Guide

Renable system restore with instructions from tutorial above

Next,

This process will clean out your Temp files and your Temporary Internet Files. Please do both steps:

Step 1:Delete Temp Files
To clean out your temp files, click on Start and then run, and type %temp% and press the ok button.

This should open up the temp directory that your machine uses. Please delete all files that are found there. If you get an error when deleting a file, skip that file and delete all the others. If you had trouble deleting a file, reboot into Safe Mode and follow this step again. You should now be able to delete all the files.

Step 2: Delete Temporary Internet Files
Now I want you to open up Internet Explorer, and click on the Tools menu and then Internet Options. At the General tab, which should be the first tab you are currently on, click on the Delete Files button and put a checkmark in Delete offline content. Then press the OK button. This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes. When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

Finally, and definitely the MOST IMPORTANT step, click on the following tutorial and follow each step listed there:

Simple and easy ways to keep your computer safe and secure on the Internet

Glad I was able to help and if there any other problems related to your computer please feel free to post them in the appropriate forum. Though we help people with spyware and viruses here at BC, we also help people with other computer problems! Do not forget to tell your friends about us!
