I have a bubble that comes up out of the taskbar from a globe that keeps turning red. It says "Your computer is infected!". I can click on the X and it goes away for 1 second. If I click on the box, it goes to a spyaxe website.

Also, spyaxe is loaded onto my computer regularly. I need do nothing. I have run Microsoft AntiSpyware, Xoftspy 4.21, Ad-Aware SE Personal, and Spybot Search & Destroy to try to get rid of the problem. Yesterday, I tried "smirem" from noahdfear, in Safe Mode. They all find the offensive software and remove it, but it keeps coming back.

I have emailed logs to Xoftspy but have not gotten a response. I have joined your forum hoping that you can help. I am copying and pasting the hijackthis.log which I ran after running spybot the last time. SpyBot found nothing.

Hope you can help. Jeff

I have removed spyaxe - so far. I have rebooted twice and been up and running for about 30 minutes, using the Internet and my email. No spyaxe.

I solved the problem by reading through spyaxe problems in "New Topics". There was one today (12/28) from joburg. I followed the steps given toward the bottom of the posts - safe mode boot, smitrem (which I had run before), ccleaner, ewido anti-malware, "Reset Wbe Setting", etc. I also downloaded and installed DelDomains.inf. And I am now running Spyware Blaster in addition to the others I was running.

Anyway, thanks again. All of the fixes recommended were free. I was suprised to see joburgs responses before my own, but I cannot even imagine the number of files you have to look at and am happy that my problem is solved.
