Hi, I'm having problems with suspicious malware on my PC and I keep getting AVG alerts and also getting redirected to various websites. Whenever I try to post logs here, the post does not go through so I shall follow this up with all the information needed if this submits.

EDIT: I am having problems posting and it seems I am unable to attach the file that is requested, shall I just post it here? I am also unable to complete a GMER scan without encountering a blue screen and then my PC restarts spontaneously. Here are the results from my DDS scan and I have ran DeFogger accordingly.

EDIT2: I can't fit the whole of the DDS scan into one post so I have split it up into two parts, I am really so sorry for all of this trouble, :(.

EDIT3: I can't even make the whole of the log fit in one post for some reason and I keep getting errors when I try to make a full post (instead of a quick reply).

Can somebody give me some advice perhaps before I try to post logs? :(

My problem with posting started days ago when I tried to make a topic and got the screen almost immediately:

'The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.'

I'm almost certain it's nothing to do with my internet, it seems rather suspicious. Any way I can bypass this or maybe if it's a well known bug? :(

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.
If you are unable to create a log because your computer cannot start up successfully please provide detailed information about the Windows version you are using: What we in particular need to know is version, edition and if it is a 32bit or a 64bit system.
If you are unsure about any of these caracteristics, just let us know and we'll help you figuring it out. Please also tell us if you have your Windows CD/DVD handy.

The reason you can not post the entire log is very likely the infection you have, that is trying to block you from communicating effectively with us. If you can't post the og I'm asking you to post, just reply back with that fact.

Please include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Please refrain from running tools or applying updates other than those we suggest while we are cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so we know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.

Even if you have already provided information about your PC, we need a new log to see what has changed since you originally posted your problem.
We need to create an OTL Report
  • Please download OTL from one of the following mirrors:
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the Posted Image icon on your desktop.
  • Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  • In the custom scan box paste the following:
    msconfig
    safebootminimal
    activex
    drivers32
    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    explorer.exe
    winlogon.exe
    wininit.exe
    hlp.dat
    /md5stop
  • Push the Posted Image button.
  • Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:
    • OTL.txt <-- Will be opened
    • Extra.txt<--Will be minimized

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Watch Topic.I suggest you click it and select Immediate E-Mail notification and click on Proceed. This way you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

After 5 days if a topic is not replied to we assume it has been abandoned and it is closed.

Hello, thanks for replying.

I am not quite sure about the specifics of my PC so if you could advise me then I'd appreciate it. Whenever I try posting a log from either the DDS scan or the OTL scans, it just gives me the 'error in posting' message. I've tried posting this on both Firefox and Google Chrome now. :(

Edit: It seems that I can post small posts like this but when it comes to the huge logs, it will not allow me.

Hi,

can you please try to run TDSSKiller and try to post that log.

  • Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop.
  • Extract its contents to your desktop and make sure TDSSKiller.exe (the contents of the zipped file) is on the Desktop itself, not within a folder on the desktop.
  • Go to Start > Run (Or you can hold down your Windows key and press R) and copy and paste the following into the text field. (make sure you include the quote marks) Then press OK.

    "%userprofile%\Desktop\TDSSKiller.exe" -l C:\TDSSKiller.txt

  • If it says "Hidden service detected" DO NOT type anything in. Just press Enter on your keyboard to not do anything to the file.
  • When it is done, a log file should be created on your C: drive called "TDSSKiller.txt" please copy and paste the contents of that file here.

(or at least the last 5 lines of the log if you can't post the entire log.

Hi,

please run this script with OTL:

Run OTL
  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following
    :otl
    [2011/03/28 20:05:50 | 000,000,000 | ---D | C] -- C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\5FDD417333E6E9F7DFCEAAC59821DA0A
    [2011/04/06 12:15:30 | 000,000,312 | ---- | M] () -- C:\WINDOWS\tasks\KQUEDH.job
    [2011/04/06 12:15:30 | 000,000,304 | -HS- | M] () -- C:\WINDOWS\tasks\xvkczvd.job
    :files
    C:\Windows\tasks\at*.job
  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, when done it will say "Fix Complete press ok to open the log"
  • Please post that log in your next reply.

Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process.
If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTL\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.
================================Follow up scan=================================
  • Double click on OTL to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
  • Under the Standard Registry box change it to All.
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open one notepad window. OTL.Txt a This is saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of this file and post it with your next reply.

You also seem to be running two anti virus programs:

I do not recommend that you have more than one anti virus product installed and running on your computer at a time. The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other anti virus products to cause "false alarms". It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection. In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause:
1) False Alarms: When the anti virus software tells you that your PC has a virus when it actually doesn't.
2) System Performance Problems: Your system may lock up due to both products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Therefore please go to add/remove in the control panel and remove either AVG or McAfee.

is that a bird?  a plane? nooo it's the flying blueberry!

If I have been helping you and haven't replied in 2 days, feel free to shoot me a PM! Please don't send help request via PM, unless I am already helping you. Use the forums!

Looking pretty good. I've tried searching things on Google and I'm being taken to the proper sites and I haven't had any random redirecting tabs opening up either. Thanks alot!

Do you think this will have fixed the problem I had with my PC not properly shutting down/restarting as well?

:)

Hi,

have you tried rebooting a couple of times, did that work better than before?

Just to be safe could you please run a scan with Eset:

ESET Online Scanner:

Note: You can use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox for this scan. You will however need to disable your current installed Anti-Virus, how to do so can be read here.

Vista users: You will need to to right-click on the either the IE or FF icon in the Start Menu or Quick Launch Bar on the Taskbar and select Run as Administrator from the context menu.

  • Please go here then click on: Posted Image

Note: If using Mozilla Firefox you will need to download esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe when prompted then double click on it to install.
All of the below instructions are compatible with either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox.

  • Select the option YES, I accept the Terms of Use then click on: Posted Image
  • When prompted allow the Add-On/Active X to install.
  • Make sure that the option Remove found threats is NOT checked, and the option Scan archives is checked.
  • Now click on Advanced Settings and select the following:
    • Scan for potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth Technology
  • Now click on: Posted Image
  • The virus signature database... will begin to download. Be patient this make take some time depending on the speed of your Internet Connection.
  • When completed the Online Scan will begin automatically.
  • Do not touch either the Mouse or keyboard during the scan otherwise it may stall.
  • When completed select Uninstall application on close if you so wish, make sure you copy the logfile first!
  • Now click on: Posted Image
  • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\ESET\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt.
  • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic.
Note: Do not forget to re-enable your Anti-Virus application after running the above scan!

Sorry the reply took so long, the scan lasted just under an hour and found 7 threats.

---C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\16\10616010-1649b006 multiple threats
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\16\1a9b7110-3a93f7f3 Java/TrojanDownloader.OpenStream.NBM trojan

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\62\bc26afe-3e7bd2cd a variant of Java/Agent.AF trojan

---

I assume this was meant to happen but it did say at the end (7 threats detected 0 threats cleaned), or something similar.

Oh and I tried restarting before this and had no problems.

Hi,

this are only leftovers you can loose by emptying cache:
Clear the Java cache:
  • Go to Start -> Control Panel.
  • In the Control Panel, double-click the Java icon.
    • The Java Control Panel appears.
  • Click Settings... under "Temporary Internet Files".The Temporary Files Settings dialog box appears.
  • Click Delete Files...The Delete Temporary Files dialog box appears.
  • Click OK on the Delete Temporary Files window.
NOTE: This deletes all the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the cache!
  • Click OK on the Temporary Files Settings window.
  • Close the Java Control Panel.

You can also view these instructions along with screenshots here.

So everything is working fine on your PC?
