my Brother HL-2070N no longer grabs paper from the paper tray. i can print from the sheet feeder but i REALLY need the paper tray to work...

there is a gear on the front left of the tray that looks like it lifts the paper but i cant tell if there is a corresponding gear inside the printer proper that is no longer spinning, engaging or stripped although i dont see any evidence of something worn out...

this is a really great printer and ive got a relatively new toner cartridge in it and would hate to have to dump it...
