Hi, I was surfing the internet earlier and wound up with a Win XP Scan virus/trojan which wouldn't allow me to access the internet nor to run Malwarebytes scan. I was able to run Super AntiSpyware scan and it detected the trojan and successfully deleted it. Upon reboot, I'm not able to access Windows Security Center which says C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe Application not found. I also cannot run any other program; I've tried my anti virus, etc. but what comes up is an "Open with" dialog box giving a selection of all my programs. I am curiously able to access both Internet Explorer.

I also tried to download RKill (as I saw in a Bleeping Computer help file) and again, I get the "Open with" dialog box.

I am running Windows XP Home edition and MS Security Essentials for a virus scanner.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

A few people have asked what I did to fix this issue.
I followed what another user did on another thread:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic388744.html

1. TFC
2. SuperAntiSpyware
3. exehelper.com
4. Mbam

To solve the Error number: 080070424 in Windows Update follow the steps below:-

Click on Start -> Run
and paste the command below and enter

%SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\WUAUENG.DLL

Launched system update again and it worked.
