Win XP SP3
Dell Latitude D820

Browser Redirect Issues:

When clicking on a link after a google search, it reopens the same search in a new tab. After clicking the link a second time in the new tab, it begins to go to the site but quickly redirects. However, if i copy and paste the link in the browser bar, it will not redirect.
Will not open windows update page or malwarebytes.org

Internet Explorer
Freezes upon opening and is "not responding" and forced to close.

Does not have the redirect issue that firefox does in google, but DOES NOT open the link for windows update or malwarebytes.org just the same

Anti Virus/Malware Issues:

Mbam- will not update, 99 days old, (tried to update in safe mode w/ networking too) Error Message: "An error has occurred. Please report this error code to our support team. PROGRAM_ERROR_UPDATING (12007,0,WinHttpSendRequest)"

Running Symantec Endpoint Protection as well.

Other Information:

In the past 2 days the welcome screen was getting stuck on "loading your personal settings" and wouldn't even make the Windows sound. I restarted the computer in safe mode and the redirect issues were still rampant. I ran mbam and symantec, but found nothing. Tried updating them and windows updates and the three still did not work.
I tried to restore my settings to january 3 (there are many restore points in-between) but it said restore incomplete and said nothing had changed.

A recent issue that may be contributing to the problem: CoreGuard Antivirus 2009 (under the name Antimalware Doctor) randomly popped up on my screen and said I had thousands of viruses, big hint that it was malware. Used rkill to disable it so i could actually work with the computer without a bunch of pop ups and minimizing windows every few seconds. Ran symantec and it found it and files were placed in quarantine.

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
