IBM Thinkpad T42 Wont boot

I have an IBM thinkpad t42 and it will not boot, I tried f8 to get safe mode to display with no luck, tried remove battery. , I always get the the same screen with just a blinking cursor in the top left screen and I do not get passed that, any ideas?

Typical fix for this on non-OEM system would be to run the fixmbr command from the XP Recovery Console.

Since your system is an OEM system...I'd suggest following the advice at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62979 .
