One of my websites was recently hacked (old version of OScommerce)and my host tech support suggested that I run ComboFix on my computer.
I haven't really noticed anything fishy about my computer. I've been running Panda Cloud Virus, and it found a few minor adware things which it deleted.
I downloaded a fresh copy of ComboFix. When I ran it the first time I didn't close all my firewall and antivirus. I got an error message from ComboFix saying that it could only be run on a Windows32 version (which my computer is - WinXP pro). I got a message that said the system would shut down in 30 seconds - which it did, and restarted. Then my computer hung just after Windows rebooted. The reset button didn't work, so I cut the power. Turned it back on and it booted fine.
I ran the ComboFix again, made sure that all of my programs were closed first... antivirus, antispam, firewall, etc... got the same message about the system shutting down - system shut down, restarted, rebooted without any problems.
So, my computer seems to be working okay, but I'm worried. I'd like to run a ComboFix scan just to be sure. What am I doing wrong?
