Having changed anti-virus software from MSE to AVG on W7 the first scan revealed a "Corrupt Windows Installer".
Further investigation doing a Sfc /Scannow confirmed this was indeed true and Scannow could not rectify it.
Any suggestions as to how I can rectify this without doing a complete reinstallation of W7?

No error messages with numbers on any of the programs that you are trying to install?

The only other thing I have tried downloading is another another browser. Installed is IE8 and I tried downloading Google Chrome.
This was done successfully. It downloaded but was different to my other computer. If I had not changed anti-virus to AVG I
would not have known the windows installer was corrupt as neither MBAM or Microsoft Security Essentials recognised it.
Scannow definitely confirmed this to be corrupt.
