For the past several weeks I have noticed that there is a loud (or at least increased) noise coming from my tower. It doesnt sound like the fan to me, more like the hard drive. The noise is intermittent. Just sounds like the usual HD spin noise, only louder.
Any thoughts/solutions out there?

I would check your connections and cleanliness of your fans. How old is your computer and when is the last time you cleaned it?

Let us know,

About a year old. Only cleaned inside once. Superficially.

The loud noise coming from your drive could be an indication of possible drive failure. Are you positive it's the hard drive. If it is you better start looking at a replacement. Even if it's a year old that does not rule out factory defect.
Just a thought.
