I have Windows Vista home basic with I.E. 8 Not sure what happened, but everytime I open the I.E. program now, I get a message that the Search Provider Default has been corrupted and it is switching it back to Google. It lists Google twice and one of them cannot be deleted. I tried to make Bing my default search provider, but it will not let me switch off of the problimatic google. Any help is appriciated, thanks!!!

Open IE, go Tools>Internet options>Advanced tab, click on "Reset" button.
Restart IE.

Sorry, forgot to add that in. I did try that earlier today. It almost seems that the original google search provider has some sort of virus blocking it from being removed? thanks

IE9 is out. It should actually come with Windows updates.
Make sure, your Windows updates are current, update to IE9 and see, if you have same problem.
