Hello all,

I've been roaming the cloud trying to find an answer to this mystery I have here. I've found some suggestions but wanted to present this to my friends at bleepingcomputer as well.

I have a Win 7 Pro machine that takes a while to open seemingly random word docs. Running Office 2010. It's happening on a few machines. These machines are on a domain, with Server 2008, and use folder redirection for the Desktop and Documents folders, so I don't know if that has much to do with it or not.

Anybody run into this issue before as well and know of any solution?

Are we talking...seconds, minutes, hours?

I've never known Word docs to open as fast as other files.

We're talkin two minutes or so here. I think I may have solved the issue. I added the network drive to the trusted locations and clicked "Allow trusted Locations on my network." Will keep you posted on true success or not.

Update: The fix I implemented did not work. It seemed to be working fine for a few days, but now again it is back to taking two minutes or so to open docs. Any suggestions?

Uninstall Office...reinstall...update for critical updates/SPs. That would make sense if the perceived problem occurs only on one system.

The fact that you say it occurs on multiple systems...would point to soemthing other than a Word issue, IMO.

Yeah it is happening on two systems. I read a post about disabling SMB on the server resolving the issue for a few people. That might be my next move.
