Hello All, I am a complete newb, so I hope that you will bear with me. I have read the requisite policies, so I will simply describe the issues I have been having. I suspect that some may be due to malware or virus infections. I am running an HP Pavillion desktop. It is 3 years old, and certainly no speed demon, but I have issues with a number of programs crashing for no apparent reason, as well as general slow response. I am running XP SP3. My machine has 4GB RAM, and I recently upgraded the processor from a core 2 dual, to an Intel Q9550 core 2 quad, in an effort to resolve some speed issues. I also frequently have issues with Windows Explorer crashing, and have been unable to install Windows updates (they download, but never install). The new processor has increased speed on certain process intensive programs, but general windows performance seems really slow. I am a photographer, so I do have a lot of applications on my machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
