I've been having intermittent problems with browser redirects (maybe every 4th or 5th google search I do) to dumb ad sites for maybe 4-5 days, and have spent the last day or so trying to identify and get rid of it. No luck so far, even using the great resources on this forum. I also had issues with Adobe Reader not working/opening about the same time this started-- I did an update of AdobeReader and it seemed to solve that problem; at least I could open PDFs again. (I have since uninstalled it until the redirect problem is fixed.) I think I also did an update of JRE or Java at that same time, but I honestly can't remember exactly.
My computer is running Windows XP Home Edition SP3. I've run Avira AntiVir, SUPERAntiSpyware, MBAM 1.46, getservice.bat (from this forum somewhere I believe), TDSSKiller, HijackThis, and HitmanPro. The Avira (run first) found several detections (sorry, can't remember their names and not sure where the log is saved for this program) and took care of them. The other spyware/virus/malware detection programs did not identify any other problems besides the usual tracking cookies (all have been deleted now). I reviewed the logs from getservice, TDSSKiller, and HijackThis and basically googled stuff that wasn't familiar, but nothing popped out as an obvious issue (not that I'd recognize anything but the most obvious of issues).
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide-
