I have a new computer and have loaded MS XP Pro and Office 2003 Pro.

For the second time I have come home to a completely wiped out outlook 2003 email. When I click on the email icon outlook launches and it thinks
I am setting it up for the first time. all the setup information is gone. When I set it up All my emails are gone. I have tried to restore the pst file which by the way there are 4 pst files pst, pst1, pst2 & pst3. none of which have any data.

Your post is not clear enough.
As you installed Office2003 did you at that time copy the .pst files from your backup?
I used to have XP home and when I reinstalled, I did XP pro and my old Office2003 and restored .pst files to the same place they came from originally and all is well. No 4 .pst files here either.
