I do not understand what the blog trackback option and the trackback URL are all about.

I'm sure that I'm not alone.
Could someone please explain these to me?

I'd also like to know if there is a way to find out or even track, that personal blog content has
been linked to or placed/posted on another site.
Probably to much to wish for.

I would say Scarlett that the trackback is for the purpose of linking to a subject in someone elses blog. If you find it worth reading for some reason. LOL Larry had tracked back to my blog regarding the pie recipe thread I started there. Here is what it looks like at Larry's blog. Which btw, I had to click archive at his blog to find it lol

Now I am trying to remember how I knew I had a trackback. lol I believe that I found out about because of the link at the bottom showed I had 1 trackback for that post.

Ok let me explain this if i can . Trackbacks allow a blogger to see who has seen the original post and has written another entry concerning it. So for example, if I see a blog entry on someone's blog that I find interesting and want to blog about it in my blog, I can send a trackback to the original entry which lets the author and other people viewing the entry know that I wrote something in my blog that references this entry.

To do that You go to a person's entry in their blog and click on the Trackbacks link. It will then list any blogs anywhere in the world that have sent a trackback or ping to this blog entry. To get the trackback url for this entry, you would then click on the Trackback Url link and copy the link that is presented to you.

Then in your blog, you can click on the Entry options button and select send trackback. Paste the link you received from the other blog and press the Go button. Now if you go back to the original entry, that you did a trackback to, you will see your entry in their list of trackbacks.

This make sense?
