How do you turn off Windows Defender in Vista ?

Personally, I think Defender is a waste of time and resources. I have the service disabled on my systems.

Thanks Allan, i have other things that do the same an i want rid of Defender as i see it to be useless unless it is all you have.

You're welcome. To "permanently" disable it go to START - RUN and enter: services.msc (press ENTER). Scroll down to the Windows Defender service and set it to DISABLED.
