I have an old computer (HP Pavillion 4450) that I've upgraded to be somewhat acceptable for mordern uses. Nearly every hardware componant has been replaced except the motherboard. I would like to update the BIOS (seeing as it's alread 6+ years out of date) but I use an external USB floppy drive that doesn't initialize with the internal drives so I can't boot from it or, so far as I can tell from my research, flash the BIOS from it. Is there a way to flash the BIOS from a CD or a ZIP disk? Or should I just buy a new motherboard?

Yes - you can flash from a CD. Go to http://www.bootdisk.com/ and a little over a 1/3 of the way down the page (on the left) is a heading that says "Bootable CD" - follow the instructions there about flashing the BIOS

Well, It seems to be working! A lot of effort for nothing, though. I've decided to finally get a new motherboard.

Any suggestions as to make/model? I play a lot of graphically intense games as well as simple word processing. Also, I have an HP minitower case that I'd like to keep.:flowers:
If anyone can suggest a MoBo + processor combo that fits nicely into an HP minitower case, I'd much appreciate it. :trumpet:
