Hi, I was running Spyware Doctor and a window came up on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen that a file is corrupted and I need to run the check disk utility. Can someone tell me how to do that?

Thanks!

Go to Start...Run...and type in "chkdsk.exe /r" (without the quotes) and presse Enter.

A black window will pop up saying that it can't do it now. Then it'll ask you if you want to do it on the next reboot. Answer "Y" and press Enter

Then reboot your system - Checkdisk will run when the system reboots.

OK, that didn't work. A window with a red x came up and said windows could not find the file "chkdsk.exe/r."
Now what? Thanks!

OK, did you type "chkdsk.exe /r" (notice the space between the .exe and the /r)

First, try and type in chkdsk.exe and press Enter
It'll open a window that will run chkdsk - but won't fix anything (but you'll be able to tell if there's errors).

Let me know if that works

Thanks John! That worked! It went through, found the file and a couple others and deleted them. Everything seems to be running fine now! Thanks a bunch!
