Hi I'm brand new to this so please bear with me.

I wasn't paying attention on the internet the other day and looked to see something downloading after cliking onto a web page, at which point AVAST sent the warning alarms. Basically since then my pc has been a mess, I did a scan immediatly after and during the scan avast kept going off repeatedly saying it had blocked and deleted numerous threats, I could see all my web browsing history flash before me (on the alert notifications) and also I'm sure I saw some of my pc files and folders pop up too.
I have tried running scans in and out of safe mode but when I've tried to move infections to the 'chest' it wil say it can't because the file is in use or the disc is full. As I type Avast is going like the clappers, 'deleting' trojans, it said it just deleted 50!
The crux of the problem is that it seems to thwart my attemps at getting rid of it, so i'm having to use another pc, I can't go onto any helpful sites like this one and microsoft etc, it says Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage or I will get redirected to an adult site or something just as bad, I can't download anything useful like malware removal software etc, I tried downloading firefox to use instead of IE but that's doing the same. Normal actions on the pc, internet aside, are getting difficult, it's incredibly slow and freezes when I try to do things like search for files and folders, I tried to save all my media onto a memory card but windows kept freezing and closing.
News flash: 'Ramnit-G' is coming up on AVAST now. Also I'm worried that my memory card is now infected because as soon as I put it in 'unlocked' AVAST started going off and the files it kept flashing up were located in that drive, I'm scared to put it back in my phone now!. By the way I had to transfer the DDS prog over via a memory card and soon afterwoods, AVAST started going off again, and I'm sure I saw that prog name flash up as well so it seems to be trying to get it's hooks into everything.
Another strange thing, when windows opens, My documents - folders is opened up, and also I keep getting this weird message from MS word saying 'You are attempting to open a file that was created in an earlier version of Microsoft Office. This file type is blocked from opening in this version by your registry policy settings'

Anyway I'm not sure what else to say... If anyone is able to offer any help it would be much appreciated.

I'm actually a little hesitant to download and attach the Attach.txt because I'm worried the virus will get onto this pc and then i'll really be in trouble.

Is it possible to paste that also or not?

Hi I'm going to try and use a memory card to move things about, at the moment the memory card is not showing up on the working computer so things are not going well, however I'll try again, then I'll perhaps try saving firefox on the card and move that over along with the progs needed. Thanks :-)

Hello

Ramnit-G is a very very bad virus - lets see how bad it is

Eset Online Scanner

**Note** You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan - Vista and win 7 right click on IE shortcut and run as admin

Go Eset web page to run an online scannner from ESET.

  • Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan
  • click on the ESET Online Scanner button
  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
    • Click Start
  • When asked, allow the activex control to install
    • Click Start
  • Make sure that the option Remove found threats is unticked and the Scan Archives option is ticked.
  • Click on Advanced Settings, ensure the options
Scan for potentially unwanted applications, Scan for potentially unsafe applications, and Enable Anti-Stealth Technology are ticked.
  • Click Scan
  • Wait for the scan to finish
  • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\Eset\Eset Online Scanner\log.txt
Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic

Ok thank you I will follow this procedure when I return home. My problem still remains that internet explorer is not working, any suggestions on a way around this? I have XP.

Firefox worked for about an hour then stopped, so I'll reinstall it again, so it's ok to do the Eset online scan via firefox then?

Firefox is working but it's 'hijacked' as in it won't let me access certain websites, such as this one and the eset online scanner. Any ideas?? I'll keep trying but starting to lose hope. When you say it's a very bad virus, are we talking new computer bad? Or would the recovery still be an option failng all else?

Hi doing the online scanning is not working out, I keep getting 'Unable to connect' Firefox can't establish a connection to the server. I can get onto other sites though, just not specific ones. Firefox worked yesterday for like an hour without restriction but it must have been comprimised. Is there any other scanning prog option?
