Yesterday I sent this message:

Hello,
first I'd like to apologize because of my awful english (I'm french).
Yesterday I downloaded the nice spyware call spysheriff.
I found in your forum the way to put it out from my computer. It seems to work. Thanks for that. I have another trouble. The picture I selected on my desk is replaced by another screen picture. When I do a right click on the mouse it is impossible to replace this screen picture. It seems to be due to spy sheriff. Can you give me the procedure to kill it definitively and to recover my initial screen picture. Thanks very much. Joyeux Noël et bonne année à toute l'équipe (Merry christmas and happy new year to all the team).

I received a message from Acklan and Efwis. Thanks a lot for that.
I tried to restore my system with a point before infection. It doesn'y work.
I did the procedure like Efwis asked me to do.
I do not know how to join my log so I put it in the topic. Excuse me if it's not the right way to do. If you want to look for it it will be great.
Merci beaucoup
This is my log:

Your English is better than my French after living in Geneve for 3 years

This fix is only for XP & Windows 2000

Download and Save Cleandesktop to your computer from this link: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/cleandesktop.exe and double click on the cleandesktop.exe

It will automatically extract to c:\desktopclean where it needs to be to run and will automatically run the cleandesktop.vbs script

If it doesn't open then go to c:\desktopclean and double click on the cleandesktop.vbs Do not run any other file from there please unless asked to

If you have script blocking enabled you will get a warning about a malicious script wanting to run. Please allow this script to run. It is not malicious.

If you get a message when you first run it "Can not find script file "blah blah blah" then don't worry just doubleclick the cleandesktop.vbs script again you sometimes get that message when a script blocker blocks the script

It will then kill Explorer. You will lose your taskbar and desktop. It will repair the registry entries returning your normal desktop and context menu functions.

It will restart Explorer.

Once you have performed the big cleanup, each of the other Users on the System needs to be signed in to clean up their desktop and regain the right click.

I have included another vbs to do this. It is named Other Profiles Regfix.vbs

Have each User sign in and run Other Profiles Regfix.vbs
Open C:\ (Go to Start>Run and type C: Press enter) and Open the c:\desktopclean folder. Double click on Other Profiles Regfix.vbs

Explorer will be ended and that user's active desktop registry entries will be repaired. Explorer will be restarted.

To restore the desktop to whatever picture you normally have right click on a blank part of desktop & select properties/desktop & select your prefered picture press apply & then ok to exit and then press F5

You will need to do this step for every user account
==========
Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ (W2K/XP Only)
· Install ewido.
· During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
· Launch ewido
· It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
· On the left side of the main screen click update
· Click on Start and let it update.
· DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:
(Start tapping F8 at the first black screen after power up)

Run Ewido:
· Click on scanner
· Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
· During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
· When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
· Save the report to your C: Drive
This will take some time to run!
Boot to normal mode
Post that log and a new HiJack log

Thanks for your help.
I did exactly what you said. I still have a problem with my desktop. When I clean it with cleandesktop.vbs, it works. The right click is operating as before but when I change the picture on my desktop it appears and less than 1 second it disapear and this bloody awfull screen came again. I download ewido to scan my computer. I found some malware that I trough into the "rubish tin" (is it the good name?). I did another HijackThis log. Here it is. Thanks again for your help.
(how was Geneve?). All the best.

Geneve was great!

Fix these with HJT – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Office] C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcp.exe

DownLoad http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

Restart your computer into safe mode now. (Tapping F8 at the first black screen) Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcp.exe
C:\Program Files\Vnayx
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wer5760.dll

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

START – RUN – type in %temp% OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

Empty the recycle bin
Boot and post a new log from normal NOT safe mode

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system

Go to Control Panel > Display.
Click on the "Desktop" tab then click the "Customize Desktop" button.
Click on the "Web" tab.
Under "Web Pages" you should see an entry checked called something like "Security" or similar.
Select that entry and click the "Delete" button. Click OK then Apply and OK.

Hello MFDnSC

GREAT it seems to work. I can change now the picture of my desktop.

So lets answer to your questions:
My computer is a Pentium IV 3 Ghz Ram 1,00Go working on Windows home family v2002 Service Pack 2.
During the procedure with killbox, all was like you said. Killbox told me that files do not exist:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcp.exe
C:\Program Files\Vnayx
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wer5760.dll

I just continued on with all the files. (I didn't miss any).

After the boot, to come back in normal mode, an anti spyware program (microsoft AntiSpyware) asked me if I want to allow or block a program call msvcp.exe. I blocked it (I remember this name in your explanations). I still see this line in my log:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Office] C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcp.exe

I am going to try to "kill" this line.

This is my HijackThis log:

I wonder if MS AntiSpy is preventing that change - right click on the MS icon

Security agents - Disable real time

Try making the change - boot and then see if it is gone

I did that (right click on the MS AntiSpy icon/Security agents/Disable real time). I made a new HijackThis scan and fixed the line:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Office] C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcp.exe

I boot the computer and then.............it is gone... GREAT- MARVELLOUS
I enable real time protection of MS AntiSpy. I made a new boot and everything seems to work normaly.

Pop music group QUEEN was wrong when they sang in one of their song "we are the champion"...we must sing YOU are the Champion.
Thanks so much for your help. I wish you all the best for the year 2006.
