A small but niggly problem. My Windows XP Home welcome screen tells me that I have 2 unread emails for an account which has been removed. I have opened all the emails on my Outlook and Outlook Express accounts and have run RegVac and CleanUp! to no avail. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the message?

How to reset the unread-email counter on the Windows XP Welcome logon screen with TeakUI
http://www.windowsitpro.com/Article/Articl...5767/25767.html
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweak_bookmarks.htm

Download TweakUI for XP from: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/dow...s/powertoys.asp
After installation run the program and go to:
+Logon > hightlight "Unread Mail" and un-check "Show unread mail on Welcome screen" > then choose Apply/OK.

Another alternative is to disable this by using a tweak found here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Scroll down to line 100 and click on "Disable Unread Mail on the Welcome Screen"

Always back up your registry before making any changes. An excellent FREE tool to use for doing this is ERUNT: http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/
