Is this your PC?

1. With newer graphics cards, it is usually fairly easy to see where they rank with pricing. Most newer dedicated graphics cards require supplemental power from the computer's power supply. Check to make sure it can handle the load. According to HP, your computer has a 300W power supply, this rules out most graphics cards due to power requirements. Many higher-end graphics cards are also quite large and may not fit into your case, measure before purchasing.

2. According to HP, you can upgrade to the Core 2 Quad series of CPU's, up to a Q9450.

3. Sure you can overclock it, but given the age of that graphics card, I'm not sure it would even be worth it.

Roughly $30 AUD. The reason is for a brand new 8400GS 512mb MSI it is about $35-$45.
