I have a 500GB Maxtor OneTouch 4 (Kinda old now) that was working fine until recently.

Now when I attach the drive to my machine (Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64), I receive the error...

You need to format the disk in drive F: before you can use it. Do you want to format it?

When I click cancel it is followed with...

F:\ is not accesible.

The Volume does not contain a recognized file system.
Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.

Any ideas or suggestions here?

Please let me know if you need more information as well, I'd be happy to provide what ever you need.

Thanks in advance.
