I have a Toshiba Satellite L355-S7915 laptop & I'm not very technicle with the wording so hope I explain this well enough to get some advise. When I turned it on I got the scrolling bar at the bottom of screen that has Microsoft Corporation underneath it. It ran for 45 minutes like this & never connected to Windows so I turned it off again. Then turned it back on & did the F-8 to get into Safe Mode thinking I could run Avast & see if I had been infected with something. Entered into Safe Mode & it started scrolling with a list of drivers then stopped, please wait was on the tool bar below, so I waited. After a half hour when nothing else happened I shut the laptop off again. I am running Vista Home Premium. Am I dead in the water or is there something else I can try?

Thank you for any advice & suggestions.
