It won't get past a blank screen at start up. Just has a blinking cursor prompt up in the left hand corner. Motherboard issue possibly? I really need to recover some accounting info off my hard drive. Thanks in advance.

not sure how much that info will help for a laptop.

i would first try removing the battery and just boot of the power supply ,if you have the knowledge try removing the ram and reseating it ,as for getting file off the hdd you could remove the hdd and take it to a computer shop and have them retrieve the files ,or buy aa ide to usb adapter and hook the hdd vis the device to another computer

udb to ide .
