Recycle Bin Freezes on the "Calculating Time Remaining" window. I've tried deleting it using this method: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/131294-recycle-bin-corrupted-cannot-delete-file-folder.html
I've also ran "chkdsk" neither found any errors. OS Vista Home Edition
Also ran Adaware and AVG both found no errors.
Thanks for your help!

Have you installed the Vista service packs (sp1 & 2)?

I haven't installed the service packs on this system. I think sp2 came factory installed on this PC.
Thanks

So yes, you are running SP2? I ask because if I recall correctly that particular issue was addressed by one of the service packs (I can't remember which).

I tried copying files from another pc on my network to this pc and they copied with no problem. So I don't think that particular Sp2 issue is causing my problem.
Thanks

No, I didn't try the link yet. Not sure which fix to try. How do I check if I have 32bit or 64bit?
Thanks

Ok, I installed the 32bit hot fix, rebooted and still have the problem. Here's what is happening:When I delete a file, it goes right to the Recycle Bin but the "Calculating Time Remaining" doesn't close. To close it I have to hit "cntrl alt & delete" and click "End Task" in Windows Task Manager. Then to empty the Recycle Bin I have to repeat the same procedure.
Thanks

Do you have Windows Search enabled? If so, try disabling it (read this: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/614870.htm)

Allan, I disabled "Windows Search" and that seemed to be a good work-around for now. I'm able to delete files directly to the Recycle Bin and bypass the "Calculating Time Remaining" window.
My PC also seems to be running a lot faster now.
Thanks for all your help!

Sure. Sorry for the problem but glad it's all worked out now.
