I was infected with SpySherrif, AdwarePopuper, and Compexel Trojan 14 places, but ran adware till it said I was clean. Alto there still is a folder in program filies (QL) that contains 3 folder (qldf.bin),(qlink32.dll) and (unstaller). This folder showed up after infection and you can delete any or all and they reinstall themself instanly. Ran Norton antivirus and it found 3, the ones listed above, but could not repair them but did quarrintine them. I can not update Norton as the Internet is unuseable on the infected computer, with constand pop-ups. I have to use this computer and transfer data back and forth with floppies.Help!!!!! DonP

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

Empty the recycle bin
Boot and post a new log from normal NOT safe mode

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system

We will need to get downlaods so see what happens

Hello MFDnSC, I replyed once but guess I lost it, let's see if I can remember what I had said. I did what you asked ran HJT marked and fixed the 8 item you said. As soon as hjt ended Norton Cleansweep notified me that a program had just installed (regsvr32), the same message I get when ever I delete the folder QL and sure enough QuickLink had reinstalled itself. I booted in safe mode and did the %temp% thing and using windows explorer deleted C:\Program Files\QL – folder, but
C:\WINDOWS\system32\igps.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\idgutil.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntfat8.dll
was not in the Windows\System32 folder. I deleted everything in Windows\temp folder except 3 index.dat files. I got this message when I tried to delete them (Cannot delete index.dat being used by another program) the locations of the files are under cookies (index dat file 32kb) under History (index dat file 64 kb) under Temporary Internet Files-Content.IE5 (index dat file 112 kb). I emptied the recycle bin and rebooted in normal mode. I went to Windows Explorer and sure enough the QL folder is back. I did plug the LAN cable back into the router and get on the internet. My old home page is back and works but the pop-ups are still there, maybe not as fast as before. Norton did manage to update some virus def. Something I forgot to add in the first post, I tried to run McAfee Stringer and their instruction said to turn off system restore, when I tried by clicking on system restore tab under properties the tab disappears back to the My Computer Icon. Hope this helps, thanks for the help and keep it coming!! Here is the HJT log. DonP

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

* Note: If you receive an error while running option #1 like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications, choose close to terminate the application.."...then do one of the following:

1: Click on the l2mfix.bat again and choose option # 5 for Fix Autoexec.nt/cmd.exe error.
2: Alternatively, you can click the fixautont.html link in the l2mfix folder and follow the directions there to fix it manually.
Do not run the fix portion without fixing the error first.
After you have performed the procedures to fix the error, repeat the steps above to run option #1 for Run Find Log.

· On the left side of the main screen click update
· Click on Start and let it update.
· DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:
(Start tapping F8 at the first black screen after power up)

Run Ewido:
· Click on scanner
· Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
· During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
· When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
· Save the report to your C: Drive
This will take some time to run!
Boot to normal mode
Post that log and a new HiJack log

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

If after the reboot the desktop icons don’t disappear or the log does not pop up then in the l2mfix folder double click the second.bat file to continue with the fix.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

I did what you asked, altho l2mfix did not look like it ran correctly it had problems finding files and didnot reboot after I pressed any key as requested, I had to manually reset with reset button of PC. But after reset a log was created see below also lastest HJT log.

Do this – If after the fixes that O20 or any O20 comes back then run L2M fix again doing opt 1 then opt 2

Fix these with HJT – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

O20 - Winlogon Notify: Explorer - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mvlul9391.dll

DownLoad http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

Restart your computer into safe mode now. (Tapping F8 at the first black screen) Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mvlul9391.dll

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

START – RUN – type in %temp% OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

Empty the recycle bin
Boot and post a new log from normal NOT safe mode

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system

 Good news I'm actually using the infected computer on line as we speak and not a single popup so far!! Did everything you asked plus a little. Ran L2M fix again option 1 and then 2. Installed and ran SpySweeper as instructed, it found 6 removed 5, summary below. Ran HJT and log reported 20 c:\WINDOWS\Systems32\WRLogonNTF.dll as being loaded in memory early in bootup so set up HJT to have Windows delete on boot, then rebooted and ran HJT again reported 20 c:\WINDOWS\Systems32\WRLogonNTF.dll (file missimg) so selected it and fixed, ran HJT again log looks clean. You tell me,see below.
Thanks ever so much!!!!! I heading for the donate button!!

I think I must still have a problem, when I try to turn off System Restore by clicking on System Restore Tab under Properties of My Computer it disappears and goes back to Desktop. What's up? Other than that everything else seems fine, no popups internet works great.
