Evening!

Alright- so I'm a really careful computer user. I don't open emails I don't know. I don't watch porn. I'm limited to facebook, gmail, a few painters sites and netflix. I'm so unsure how this has happened and I've been trying to get rid of it for... 6 months. I get halfway there, think it's fixed and then BAM. Anyways, I've googled my way to at least have access to the internet again and I know that a thousand people have had this problem, but I'm at a loss and that's why I'm here, rambling.

So. I start my computer. First things first "LogitechDesktopMessenger.exe.vir". That's one thing that I have no clue...google of course brought me here!
Then, fake antivirus crap always comes up. I beat one of them...now a different one comes up.
Y'know, first its fake Windows Security Alerts that have god awful spelling in the balloons in the corner "Your computar might be infeted" or the similar. Which I just ignore.
Then, google'd links redirect me to places I don't want to go.

Oh and when I tell my computer to shut down or restart...it won't. It just y'know diddledallies and never will so I have to manually kill it.

The original virus/malware crap I had wouldn't allow me to connect to the internet. Nor run any .exe, have desktop icons or an active desktop. I was in safe mode so much it hurt my eyes to not be in safe mode. I have run malwarebytes(to the death), avast!, frontline registry cleaner, avg, spybot search and destroy... you name it, i've probably done it or done it wrong.

So I'm desperate and terribly sorry if this is in the wrong section. I read everything I could before I posted!

Thanks a million for even reading!

I have XP. Andddd I use Chrome.

What have you done so far to try and fix the issue? Have you ran any security scans?

Take a click to the spyware removal section. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/ Maybe you can find what you need there.
Good luck.

i have been to that...but I'll look again.

Ran malwarebytes again "Trojan.Doppler"
Then had to DL AVG cause my avast! is being an expired bum... but got the limited 30day nicer one. Came up with "Trojan horse Exploit_c.RQJ", "Torjanhorse PW.Ldpinch.AECG" and JS/Redir.AX"

SO! I'm hoping that last one that says "redir" is it (redir...redirect). So I'm going to restart and hope it goes well!

Sounds like you need to kill a rootkit first. boopme can direct you in using the tool if needed.

Hello,
Is your Antivirus showing you the Logitech file when you begin?

The LogitechDesktopMessenger.exe program is part of Logitech hardware related programs, and it checks for software updates. If you installed a Logitech hardware device then this may appear in your startup list.

The legitimate file is located at C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop. If you are still seeing this do a File search for it's location.

Let's get 2 more scans
Please download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!
Be sure to download TDSSKiller.exe (v2.4.0.0) from Kaspersky's website and not TDSSKiller.zip which appears to be an older version 2.3.2.2 of the tool.
  • Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
  • If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it.
  • To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.
  • Click the Start Scan button.
  • Do not use the computer during the scan
  • If the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.
  • If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.
  • Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.
  • A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:).
  • Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply.

And an online scan
Please perform a scan with Eset Online Antiivirus Scanner.
This scan requires Internet Explorer,Opera or Firefox to work. Vista/Windows 7 users need to run Internet Explorer as Administrator.
To do this, right-click on the IE icon in the Start Menu or Quick Launch Bar on the Taskbar and select Run As Administrator from the context menu.
  • Click the green Posted Image button.
  • Read the End User License Agreement and check the box:
  • Check Posted Image.
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Check Posted Image
  • Check Remove found threats and Scan potentially unwanted applications. (If given the option, choose "Quarantine" instead of delete.)
  • Click the Start button.
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer.
  • If offered the option to get information or buy software at any point, just close the window.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and do NOT use the computer while the scan is running. Keep all other programs and windows closed.
  • When the scan completes, push Posted Image
  • Push Posted Image, and save the file to your desktop as ESETScan.txt.
  • Push the Posted Image button, then Finish.
  • Copy and paste the contents of ESETScan.txt in your next reply.
Note: A log.txt file will also be created and automatically saved in the C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\ folder.
If you did not save the ESETScan log, click Posted Image > Run..., then type or copy and paste everything in the code box below into the Open dialogue box:

C:\Program Files\ESET\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
  • Click Ok and the scan results will open in Notepad.
  • Copy and paste the contents of log.txt in your next reply.
-- Some online scanners will detect existing anti-virus software and refuse to cooperate. You may have to disable the real-time protection components of your existing anti-virus and try running the scan again. If you do this, remember to turn them back on after you are finished.

NOTE: In some instances if no malware is found there will be no log produced.

hokay.

AVG isn't showing anything in regards to the Logitech thing. It's a Windows "Windows cannot open this file" and would I like to use the web or select a program from the list. When I go to C:\Program Files\Logitech, the folders are "Desktop Messenger" or "Quick Cam"- the second being my webcam. I mean... I could uninstall all of it? I never use the webcam anyways. hmph. And when I plug in "C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop" into the address bar in a window, it says "cannot find...etc". When searching for it on My Computer (just to see if it's anywhere) I get:
Name: LogitechDesktopMessenger.exe.appid.8876480
&
Name: LogitechDesktopMessenger.exe.vir
Location: C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program

Is that right? Should I just ignore this, I mean it's really not a bother...but I just hope it's nothing serious.

Anywho, this is what TDSSKiller gave me.
