I've used this site previously browsing threads to remove malware. I regularly use Super-anti-Spyware and Malware Bytes to keep check. After using SAV today it told me I have "Malware.trace" and the file is, typed exactly, as follows C:Windows\SYSTEM32\DLL. I know there is much nasty stuff that attaches itself to these kinds of files.
I have a nose about online at other pc tech forums and a few are saying it's a false positive and others are saying it's a trojan. Any advice would be gratefully received. Really don't feel like doing an OS reinstall, unless it's my only option.
Thanks in advance.

Hello.

C:Windows\SYSTEM32\DLL

As you typed it. . . that's not a file. It's a directory, and not a Windows created one. If you're sure that's exactly how it's typed, then it needs to go.

Thanks for the response. I ran AVG, Superantispyware, Windows security essenstials and Malware Bytes. All found x2 Trojan horse Agents.5.BI. AVG wouldn't remove or heal all the others removed but it reappeared on re-boot. I began backing up and preparing for having to do a re-install. I intended posting log files from Malwarebytes, scanned the computer and...nothing. It seems to have disappeared. I kept the system offline for 2 days and changed all my important passwords. 24hrs on there's still no sign of it and the system is behaving. No redirection from Google and all my desktop shortcuts work. I tried searching for the named virus but results came blank. Any ideas? Has it been removed or should I still be worried?

Well. . . . it seems that whatever it is. . . it's gone now. I'd run a full scan with MBAM, SAS, and your Antivirus. If all come back clean and you aren't experiencing any symptoms, then I'd say you're good to go!
