run dll errors

I am getting the following error message.

Error loading c:\windows\system32\inetcpl.cpl
The operating system cannot run %1

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

noknojon, thanks for your quick reply. i followed the link and got no positive results from being in safe mode. i have run malewarebytes and a virus scan, both are clean. i use firefox exclusively and can not tell you when the problem started. i recently installed hr block tax software and it must rely on ie working in some way. i did have a major root infection last spring, which i received help from the infection forum, left minor problems, but nothing i couldn't live with. what do you advise i do next?

Firefox has a IE tab which may be what you need to use Firefox with your H&R software.
