I replaced Office 2003 with 2010; my Outlook was very slow on 2003 and is still slow on 2010. The outlook.pst file is 1.3 GB in size; is this a problem? How can it be repaired?

In Outlook click on FILE - DATA FILE MANAGEMENT - double-click your account and compact.

If that doesn't help, please define "slow" (WHAT is slow?).

By "slow" I mean 2-3 minutes to open an email. Sometimes it won't do "send/receive" at all, and must be restarted in order to work.

Alos, when I close OUtlook (exit) I must re-start my computer (Dell 9100 with 3.25 G of RAM) in order to open Outlook again.

Okay. Please go ahead and compact the pst file as per above.

Also, delete all unnecessary emails in SENT, JUNK, and DELETED

Found a "GIANT" - 92 MB file in the outbox. Deleted it, cleaned up all the other files and now it all works great. Thank all you fine people for your terrific assistance!
