I'm a little confused here. It's not like I'm a newbie to computers, the first time I installed memory in a computer it was back when 4MB was a lot of memory. I had my cousin to talk me through it, but now that he's moved to the opposite side of the globe he sleeps while I'm awake, and is awake when I sleep.

I just don't understand what the 555Mhz means in the PC2-5300 RAM I recently purchased. I understand that the speed of PC2-5300 RAM is, by definition, 667MHz. A guy was telling me that the 555MHz is the latency speed, but I didn't think that latency was measured as one number with mhz behind it.

Can someone explain this to me?

I didn't have a chance to take a very good look at the memory because I received it in the mail about 30 min. before I left town for the weekend. It may have read pc2-5300u 555. I feel pretty sure it had the mhz behind the 555, but I'm not 100% certain.

I was going to ask is it actually expressed anywhere specifically 555MHz? It should indicate latency 5-5-5 and another final number like 12 or 15.

It may not have said 555Mhz, I tried to pull a picture of it from ebay, and I think it was pc2-5300s 555-12-A3, but it seems to blurry to tell.

I guess this would be the latency then...
