Hi, just introducing myself. Long-time user, brave sometimes foolhardy, not very tech savvy. Willing to undertake major PC surgery if needed.

My last spin-crash-burn was caused by one of my cats peeing on the laptop, which COMPUsa's repair desk later told me was a "common" problem. That was the end of that machine.

Previously, my eMachine started behaving badly so after much research I tackled replacing the hard drive, upgrading the memory, "fixing" various parts in the innards. With some success. Then it caught fire (literally, sparks and smoke) so I unplugged it and threw it away.

Now operating off an IBM ThinkPad thrown out by my employer, running Windows 98. None of the four-footers have peed on this one yet but it's just a matter of time; the cats get jealous when I spend too much time with the machine.

I live and work in NYC, long time now.

Love being a "user," just wish the bleeping things were less mysterious.
