I've been working on and off for many weeks trying to get my machine cleaned up. I couldn't access regedit - I believe it is has been hijacked by some malware. Notepad doesn't work either - when I click on it to open it, something pops up from PurityScan, prompting me to install it. Zone Alarm keeps telling me that notepad.exe is trying to access the internet (I believe due to purityscan,) As well as something called Idesk MFC. Any help would be appreciated, and I'm sure that there are more infections than the ones I've listed. Btw, my system config is set to 'selective startup' since I've been playing around with it.
[sidenote - I keep trying to kill the http:/*xxxtoolbar.com one, but every time I scan with HJT, it has reappeared.]

You have HiJack in a temp directory we must move it

Get HiJack This V1.99.1 http://thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe - double click the DL file and click UNZIP letting it extract to its default folder C:\Program FIles\HiJackThis, run it from there

Get all of these and/or verify you have the current versions

SpywareBlaster 3.4 http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html
SpyBot V1.4 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html
AdAware SE 1.06 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html

DownLoad them (they are free), install them, check each for their
definition updates
and then run AdAware, and Spybot, fixing anything
they say.

In SpywareBlaster - Always enable all protection after updates
In SpyBot - After an update run immunize

Boot and post a new log
"Nothing could be finer than to be in South Carolina ............"
