I have a desktop and connected to web thru my cable company, (I have a router). I have a family member that wants to buy a lap top. Is there anything else we need to run this laptop?

Is there anything else we need to run this laptop?

You're all set.
All todays routers provide wireless signal, so when you power up the laptop, it should detect your router right away.
