I am having a serious problem with my pc.
Windows disk is showing me these following errors

Boot sector of the hard drive disk is damaged
Bad sectors on hard drive or damaged file allocation table
Read time of hard drive clusters less the 500 ms
Hard drive doesnt respond to system commands
40% of hdd space is unreadable

What does this mean and can I fix it

I cannot access my documents folder or other programs Any Help would be great
I tried the defrag thing but it didnt work

Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum, at the recommendation of forum staff. ~ Animal

When you say "Windows disk". Can you give a little better description of just what\where the warning message is coming from?

You "tried the defrag thing but it did`t work".

Where did you go to access the defrag? What does "it did`t work" mean?

The reason I am asking these questions is not to give you a hard time. There is a virus going around that is very similar in it`s behavior.

I am just trying to find out exactly what it is we are dealing with.

I am not aware of any feature in XP that displays the type of warnings you are listing.

Is at any point it offering to fix these issues. Then if you select OK is it requesting you to purchase a program?

If you left or right click on the icon do you get any type of options menu?

Yes it requests me to purchas a program...when I click on it either way it shows me the window that says windows disk at the top and then under it shows all the errors

I did not say removed.

It will be moved to a more appropriate Forum where the Staff members are trained for the proper removal of just such problems. :thumbup2:
