I am new to this site and not sure if I am in the right forum. The disk says backup.QIC Created sep 28 2004 4.38GB attributes are read only opens with unknown app. I purchased PC backup pro and it reconizes it but says invalid archive. My local computer shop charged me $50.00 but could not open it.

How old is this file?

The QIC file format was used the Windows Backup program that shipped with 95 & 98.
I used to use it all the time.
In the beginning there was the command line.

Thanks for all your reply's. I kept searching on the internet and yes QIC backup files were used with WIN 95,98,& ME. I also found out about an old software program called roxio that could open them. Roxio reconized the files but did not work also, but this led me to a program called stomp. This program did work and allowed me to put them in a file for viewing but I am going to have to find a computer that is clean to download the entire thing because the disk contains the whole operating system. I appreciate all of your help and sorry not to get back with you sooner as I was busy doing all of this, but I wanted to let you know what I found in case it could help someone else in the future.
