My problems is I cannot restore a point through System Restore.. I also try to restore system through Safe Mode, but still it fails here's the snapshot:

So what I did, I clicked open System Protection and a prompt box appeared:

Next, I saw something weird at the system icons..I saw a x icon on network icon but I have my Internet Connection but when I point the cursor at the network icon it says:

Posted Image

I also saw the Windows Security Center balloon at the taskbar it says I have to fix "something"

When I clicked it, here's the snapshot:

I turned on Virus Protection, and after that it says:

Another is the Sounds, My sound device is working properly, the volume is on maximum mode but still no sounds to hear.. I cant' hear any sounds from my music folder or even in Youtube..

Next, I also go to Control Panel to manage an account.. But when I clicked it, no windows flashed on the screen.

What I did now, I search the problem on Google, and I found some tips on how to solve it..
One says:

It's caused by disabled services - I had the same problem with MS automatic updates.

-Click on the pearl then type "Services" in the search box (Don't type in the quotes, of course).
-Right click on Services (with the gears beside it) and pick Run As Administrator (I don't know if this in necessary, but I run everything in Vista as admin...That way programmes have an XP feel to them and actually, you know, work.)
-Head down the list to "Volume Shadow Copy", double click on it and enable it if it's not enabled.
-Then go back up the list a bit to "Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider" and double click on it to enable it if it's disabled.

After that, I went back to the control panel and, voila - a successful restore point was created.

I didn't have to restart the computer to make this work, but that might be necessary for some.

Happy Vista hacking, y'all!

I did this but still not working!
btw, boopme says there is no malware issue found but my software..
please experts, I need your help, I miss my loved ones because I can't see and hear them through Skype..

you can see my malware issues results in http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic379477.html

Thank You..

Hi again PinoyNoob!!..

Looks like your system is: Windows Vista 32bit, with Service Pack 1...

I found some reports that reinstalling Service Pack might help with such an issue... Looking for example here: link, the person suggests that reinstalling SP1 should help... However, currently, there is Service Pack 2 available... That's why I would recommend:
- backing up all your important data...
- installing Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (or a different link here: Service Pack 2) for your system - of course, from a stand-alone installer downloaded... That should replace any files corrupted...

Let us know how it goes...

Hi again PinoyNoob!!.. :)

A back up of your files is important, because something always might go wrong when installing such a huge update (in most cases there are no problems at all), so we want to be on a safe side...

hello snemelk what type of cd will I use to backup my files? because i want to use my cd again for my research.

for example I will put a file on my cd and transfer it to my pc and delete the file and put another file and transfer it to pc? I hope you understand my question.

Personally, I would not use a CD to back up my files... I would either buy a DVD (they're cheap) and burn all of my important files, use my USB stick and copy the files there, or (also very convenient) use a free online service, such as Dropbox (2GB for free) or Windows Live SkyDrive (25GB for free)... Remember, you do not want to delete any files from your computer, just copy all your important files, in case they're deleted by mistake or a glitch of some sort...
If you want to back up to a different partition on your computer, you can use for example Cobian Backup, see the tutorial here: How to backup and restore your data using Cobian Backup...

btw, I can't find the vista sp1? can you help me to find it? here's the snapshot:

You do not have to uninstall Vista's SP1... :) I asked you to install SP2 from a stand-alone installer...

If they were unsafe or illegal, I would not recommend these solutions to you... Yes, these are pretty safe solutions - sites I linked to give the information about security and privacy policy... Usually, the transmission and the files on such a virtual storage are encrypted, and (of course) it's up to you if you want these files to be private (available to you only) or public...

btw, are talking about the dvd-r type which has 4.7 gb ? :)

Yep, DVD-R or DVD+R - but they can not be re-used (what you burn, you can not delete)...

what can you recommend or the best and easiest way to backup my files.. :)

Up to you... Personally, I would just copy my important files over to a different computer via a USB memory stick... If you have a few spare DVDs, that's also a good method, but can take a little longer...

Hi again PinoyNoob!!.. :)

That error has something to do with .NET Framework... Let's try reinstalling it...

Please uninstall this application: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile... Then, install the newest version by downloading and executing the installer from here: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Web Installer)

Once above is reinstalled, please try installing Service Pack 2 once again - hopefully it will succeed this time!!..

Hi again PinoyNoob!!.. :)

This is crazy...

The image you linked to in that post: #10 doesn't display for me... Could you upload it one more time or attach it into your next post??..

Let's try something else now:

Open an Elevated Command Prompt (important, otherwise, it will fail)...

In the command prompt write (or better: copy the line in bold and right-click paste it into the cmd.exe window):

findstr /C:"[SR] Cannot repair member file" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >sfc.txt & start notepad sfc.txt

Then click Enter. A Notepad window should appear - paste the contents of it into your next reply...

Hi again!!.. :)

Heh, that's not what I expected...

Ok, let's try this:

Firstly, follow the steps provided in that article: Error "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed" in Windows Vista - The Winhelponline Blog...

Secondly, try performing the steps from this post: #10 once again - let me know if you are able to uninstall/reinstall .NET Framework 4 now... Hopefully, yes!..
