I have a new sandisk cruzer 2GB. My computer is Windows XP. I am wondering if I can get rid of all these folders that are already on the flash drive? I read somewhere you can format them. I would like to wipe out everything and start fresh. I don't know if some of the files or data on the drive are necessary for it to work. I am afraid I will delete something that will keep it from working. I have put a few things on it and retrieved them, so it does work. One of the icons is called RunClubSanDisk Bootstrap Module and there are a bunch of folders.
Thank you for your time.

You don't need anything on the drive. Feel free to delete them all. No need to format - just delete them if you like.

For future reference, anytime something like this comes up you can just move the files to a folder on your computer and make sure there's no problem. If there isn't, delete them. If there is, move them back.
