half the time I try to access a page, and every time I try nto access BLEEPINGCOMPUTER.COM, I am directed to a page with this address: hxxp://premium_.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html... which is a page with a dark gray background and a small whits box wich has this statement: Premium content area - Complete in thirty seconds - Test below...In order to access this website area you must complete a sponsored offer. It's easy, fast and you will receive full lifetime access to our website - take fast food survey -or- Customize your Facebook with a theme.
Under this statement is a sentence that reads: Click any of the links and complete an offer to continue... (inserted over the word "continue" is a circle with an "i" inside).
Under the white box, very light print is s/n:777114c232adb275dcdace5192de23904.
When I click the "back" button I get a pop-up that asks: Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?Help keep this quality content available, etc, etc.
At this point I access my Task Mgr. which states that two applications are running (same address as given above). After ending those3 apps and redirecting back to my original website, files begin to try to download but are stopped by windows. A yellow bar comes accross the top of the page: Windows has stopped files that could harm your computer. That's great, but still, I keep getting redirected to this annoying and potentially harmful page and want to stop this but don't know how. THANKS, GUYS. Below is the DDS.text log:

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

Please take note:

  • If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know.
  • If you are unable to create a log because your computer cannot start up successfully please provide detailed information about your installed Windows Operating System including the Version, Edition and if it is a 32bit or a 64bit system.
    • If you are unsure about any of these characteristics just post what you can and we will guide you.
  • Please tell us if you have your original Windows CD/DVD available.
  • If you are unable to perform the steps we have recommended please try one more time and if unsuccessful alert us of such and we will design an alternate means of obtaining the necessary information.
  • If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.
  • Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review your topic an do their best to resolve your issues.
  • If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
  • Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit Scanner.

Please note that if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows you will not be able to run GMER and you may skip this step.

Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Why we request you disable CD Emulation when receiving Malware Removal Advice

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

How to create a GMER log

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

Best Regards,
oneof4.

Thanks for the response. Below is the DDS I ran today, 2-21-2011. I am using the 64bit version opf Windows 7 so no GMER. Since I started using Kaspersky A/V 2011, it has stopped the downloading of the files, but I am still being directed to the harmful page and have to use task mgr to exit out of the page. How can I stop my machine from being redirected to this annoying and harmful webpage ?

Hi joco50, and welcome to Bleeping Computer.

I'm not sure if you (or anyone on that computer) use Facebook, but if yes, please read this: How to spot a Facebook Survey Scam (2 pages), as you may be a victim of such a scam...

Then,
Download OTL.exe by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe.
  • In the "Custom Scans/Fixes" window (under the light green bar) paste the following in bold:

    netsvcs
    drivers32
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.*
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    CREATERESTOREPOINT
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\Results\Install|LastSuccessTime /rs

  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two Notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.
