Good morning all.

I have been using Combofix very successfully for at least two years.

I ran it recently on a Windows 7 notebook and now the machine will no longer boot the operating system.

All my attempts at the usual recovery methods are failing.

The two Win 7 DVDs are not compatabile with installed version and the system restore fails.

Has any else had this problem?

Regards

David Jones

Hi David,

I will be assisting you with this problem.

Please refrain from making any changes to your system from now on as it might interfere with our fixes.

Please give me full feedback about all the following:

  • Is this a x86 bit or a x64 bit system?
  • How far it goes and what do you see from the moment you start the system. Please describe it.
  • Why did you run ComboFix? Was the computer infected? If yes can you tell more about it?
  • At which stage after running ComboFix the computer didn't boot? Did it produced the log?
  • What are the steps you have already taken to boot? Please mention all of them so that I know what is already done and what is the effect of those steps on the current condition of the computer.

Hi

Thanks for the reply, although this is the first indication that I've had that anyone replied.

The client couldn't wait any longer, and I went for a clean install and reloaded as much of their apps as I could.

They're happy.

Cheers

D
