40gb Hdd In Laptop

ok i have a toshiba satellite 110 ct and a toshiba satellite pro 445cdx i have a 1.4gb hdd and a 40gb hdd when iver i put it in either laptop and try to install windows(95 on the 110 and 98 on the 445) the drive is read as 15.6mb. the drive is a 40gb travelstar by hitachi. are the laptops just too old? or is there something wrong with the hdd?

You probably have a BIOS limitation. Try using Fdisk to make three partitions as a work around. C: 15gb, D: 15gb, E: 10gb.
