In windows 7, in my email program, a Word 2003 doc will not open. I must save the file to a folder, and then open it. This is the only type of file for which this occurs. I have gone thru the Default Programs drill and tried all types of options, but with no success.

Just so we are on the same page. You of course do have Word installed on the Win7 machine(?).

I believe this might do the trick.

Please read the entire page as it has some pre-installation recommendations.

The reason you are likely experiencing the problem is MS changed the file format from .doc to .docx.
