I got several trojans several weeks ago and have spent a lot of time cleaning them up with various disinfection tools and anti-virus software since some would get some infections and others got others. Even though I cleaned up a lot of it, my computer still makes these weird noises that sound like programs are accessing the hard drive when I am using it and online. When I do a netstat I usually see many unknown ip's connected to my computer. The person's description of virus activity on this page: http://www.computing.net/answers/security/iexploreexe-trojan-solution/20354.html

best describes the activity and noises that I hear that let me know that I am still infected. The names of some of the things the anti-virus scans found: were a .bat.js script. I also had trojan.downloader, dloader.trojan, stpage.trojan, script.virus and muldrop.trojan files found. Recently I had js:IIIredir-Q[Trj] and iexplore.exe found. Trojan hunter found the js:IIIredir-Q[Trj] file and prevx the iexplore.exe. But after cleaning the dloader.trojan, stpage.trojan, script.virus and muldrop.trojan files with dr. web nothing else has been able to detect anything, but I know it is still there. Malwarebytes never found anything, even when other scanners would. Researching the trojan.downloader information, I found registry files named Win-Trojan/Agent and deleted them. Whatever I have has survived several destructive recovery processes so is very good at hiding. Because of this I ran MBRcheck and got Found non-standard or infected MBR. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I also tried to attach the DDS and Gmer logs, and could browse to, but not upload the attachments.

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.

  • Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  • Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  • Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  • Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  • Do not run anything while running a fix.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

Click on the Watch Topic Button and select Immediate Notification and click on proceed, this will help you to get notified faster when I have replied and make the cleaning process faster.

In order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

Hello Gringo,

Thank you for your reply. It had been so long since anyone replied to either of my posts I did not think that anyone would and I had not checked the forum in several days. Please give me a day to implement the instructions that you have given me. I actually have another post where I described that I recognized the specific trojan that I had was trojan.Win32.Generic!BT which I understand is one of the worst and hardest to disinfect as it has stealth and hiding mechanisms and also puts a rootkit on the machine that it infects. So give me a day to do what you have asked, because since I was not sure if anyone would help me I kept on trying different things. So I will post back when I have done the stepst that you have outlined.

Thank you

I also will have a problem doing your instructions. Since I had not gotten any help, I kept going and trying to fix it, deleting a few malicious files. Another program that monitors unusual start up files and file changes flagged a few files and I erased them and ever since my computer freezes up right when I start up and I felt that I was going to have to reformat. I have not done it yet, but I do not think that I will even be able to run the dds logs the way the computer freezes up. Should I try or just reformat and see if the problems are still there? In the past the infection has survived several reformats and so it may still be there when I do (hopefully not).

I am sorry, I had to work and ended up having to reformat my computer when I tried to start running DDS. I doesen't matter because the stuff is still there. It makes my hdd make funny noises when it is reading, and does so when I am not doing anything. Anyway, I am following your instructions right now and will post when I have.

Hello

I Would like you to do the following.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

Run Combofix:

You may be asked to install or update the Recovery Console (Win XP Only) if this happens please allow it to do so (you will need to be connected to the internet for this)

Before you run Combofix I will need you to turn off any security software you have running, If you do not know how to do this you can find out >here< or >here<

Combofix may need to reboot your computer more than once to do its job this is normal.

You can download Combofix from one of these links.
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
1. Close any open browsers or any other programs that are open.
2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.

Note 1: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

Note 2: If you recieve an error "Illegal operation attempted on a registery key that has been marked for deletion." Please restart the computer

"information and logs"

  • In your next post I need the following
  • Log from Combofix
  • let me know of any problems you may have had
  • How is the computer doing now?
