I have been working with you all on trying to fix my infected computer and you have been great.
I do have a new question tho. This virus that I have "the redirect virus" I think I have narrowed down to the fact that because my son started having the same problems as well as others on his netbook at the same time as I started having the problem on my computer. I found out he put Frostwire on my computer without me knowing it and I am sure that is how we both got the virus. But here is my question - my other son has a destop connected thru our router and he says his computer is starting to redirect also. He is very careful about never downloading things and has no peer to peer programs. Is it possible he got the virus from my computer thru the router? Cisco told me no because of the firewall but I don't know how else he could have gotten it.
Also, during the course of working with boopme for my computer problems he told me I have a record of a known hacker attempt. My router is set up with WPA with a password and further, I made it so I have to enter in the MAC address of a computer to allow it access to my router. How can a hacker still get thru?
Thanks for your time and hopefully you can give me some insight.
