I know this is really stupid, but I just can't get my head around it.
My PC has 4 user accounts - mine, my husbands, and one each for the children.
My husband's has the "personal protector" scam (pops up with messages saying computer is infected, ultimate goal to get you to buy their antivirus - in the meantime blocks our current protection, prevents internet connection, etc)
I can't do a thing on his screen, but everyone else's is fine.
On my screen I've run a full scan of the system using our current protection (McAfee - found nothing); have downloaded Malwarebytes' and am currently running a full system scan with that.
I have downloaded Superantispyware portable, and saved it to a memory stick (in disguise) so that I can try to run that from my husband's screen if MWB doesn't work.
My questions are:
Why is this problem only showing on one user account? I haven't partitioned the hard drive or anything, so would expect everything to be shared - um... don't really understand how the whole user accounts thing works. Bothers me that itunes sees every user account as a different computer! But that's another story...
Is there any way of fixing this from my screen, or do I have to do it all from his? I can't get onto the internet from his, so have to keep switching back to mine to search for further advice before switching back again to try the advice out. Been on with this for 3 days now and am reaching the end of my tether!
Sorry for being such a dunce - I should be really happy that it's only affecting one user account. At least I can still come on here from my screen to ask for help; but it's making my brain itch!
Thanks for reading this far,
