Port Magic

What's Port Magic and is it necessary? My computer (Dell 8300, Windows XP) indicated that my Pure Networks Port Magic was corrupted and suggested that I reinstall it.

Basically it is an automated networking program. A Google search comes up with plenty of info on it.

If you PC is not on a network of any kind, other then the Internet, then you do not need it.
